Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the toys.
